Monolite History
Squires-Belt Company began making stucco products in the early 1930’s. Elmer Belt, the founder of Squires-Belt, saw a business opportunity during the depression, purchased grain blending equipment, and installed it in the original warehouse on 12th & L Streets. He came up with the brand name of Monolite® from the primary brand of cement he was buying at the time, Monolith Cement! Thousands of commercial and residential projects have been covered inside and out with Monolite® Stucco products ever since!
In 1996, Squires-Belt learned that it would eventually need to move the Monolite® plant due to eminent domain plans by the City of San Diego to use it for Tailgate Park at Petco Park. This move occurred in June of 2003. Unfortunately the old grain elevator, mixers and dust control equipment could not be moved or salvaged. Squires-Belt had to purchase new equipment and set-up Monolite® production several miles east at 47th and Market St. In February of 2004, the plant was moved again to its current location at 4567 Federal Blvd.
Today Monolite® Stucco is known for its innovative high quality stucco products, timely and accurate color matching, as well as exceptional customer service. Whether you are an Architect, Builder, Designer, Professional Contractor, Handyman or Homeowner, the Monolite® team looks forward to working with you on your next project.
